2021 Annual Merit Review
Reporting Period Opening Soon
The reporting window for the 2021 Annual Merit Review (“AMR”) will open soon. Faculty will use Northwestern’s Faculty Folio, powered by Interfolio, to record annual activities at Northwestern. Faculty Folio is the central location for managing scholarly accomplishments, research, and service to support the annual review process.
WE LISTENED! Many of you expressed concern and frustration related to some of the input and review features of the Faculty Folio system during last year’s review cycle. We reflected on your challenges, possible improvements, and new ways we could support you with customizing your data entry and review. There were several behind-the-scenes changes made to improve the user experience. Most importantly, we’ve added an Activity Reporting Form.
Activity Reporting Form
We have developed a step-by-step activity input form that will guide you through the various sections of Faculty Folio. This form will allow you to input activity data and view relevant* information in one screen. You will be able to “Preview” the entire report and see EXACTLY what the reviewers (chairs and Dean’s office) will see. You will also have a “Submit” button. This will ensure that no information is reviewed until you have completed and submitted your record, or the due date is reached (whichever comes first).
*Activities entered for the current reporting period will remain displayed in the Activity Reporting Form. Information entered in a previous or future reporting period will not be visible in the reporting form. Faculty can go to “Activities” to see a complete list of items in any given section. More information on this will be provided during training.
Training & Working Sessions
There will be several trainings and working sessions to walk you through data entry and review, including a focused CommFutures session—Interfolio: Where Does This Go? This session will review the updates to Interfolio, discuss each section of the form, and discern the most appropriate location to input your activities. This 90-minute session is designed to provide a detailed review of the platform, guided by the Office of Faculty Affairs. More information on this CommFutures session, and all other trainings, will be forthcoming.
